Therapeutic Approach
I take a person-centred attitude towards psychological work, meaning that I work collaboratively with you in determining the best pathway towards making sense of and overcoming your difficulties.
As each course of treatment differs based on personal needs, I incorporate a variety of approaches that are based on a firm foundation of evidence, such as schema therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, existential psychotherapy, mindfulness-based therapies, emotion-focussed therapy. In the first session, we may discuss these briefly to determine which approach is the best fit for your needs and preferences.
We will also set treatment goals together, which may focus on relief from painful symptoms, as well as promoting deeper self-understanding to facilitate meaningful, long-term change. Psychological difficulties rarely occur in isolation, so as as we walk through strategies and tools to support your betterment, we may also examine issues such as identify, relationships, meaning and values. All our work is conducted in the context of an empathic and non-judgemental atmosphere.
