About Dipak

After 30 years as a corporate executive I was all too aware of and challenged by the constant expectation to outperform and succeed, and the fear of failure that led to stress and anxiety.  My own experiences pushed me to search for greater meaning and purpose, improving my self-awareness and living life on my own terms. This is what psychotherapy and counselling can bring about in a person.

I believe individuals can be constrained by how they view themselves in the context of the greater world and their personal experiences. There is underlying tension created by the difference between our personal desires and wishes, and those imposed by the world we live in. Expectations of who we need to be, rather than who we want to be. Navigating this tug of war can impact our mental, emotional and physical well-being and limit our ability to live life well and authentically.

I invite my clients to reflect on themselves to recognise the knowledge and power they have within; discovering their inner voice and recognising their true selves. My work involves guiding clients on a journey of self-discovery, self-healing and transformation to live life on their own terms, rather than how they’ve been conditioned. The ultimate goal is for my clients to lead a far more integrated and fulfilling life.

As an Indian migrant from Kenya, I grew up in London and have now been in Australia for the last 25 years. From an early age I have striven to create a balance between both Eastern and Western cultures. My midlife had the makings of any typical white collar Australian man; building a career, a home and parenting and maintaining relationships. In the midst of this, I was often searching for meaning and purpose, resulting eventually in a shift in career. These lived experiences are assets I bring to the therapy room.

To complement my work as a psychotherapist, I work at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility and facilitate men’s mental health groups.
